Hi All,

I couldn't find my custom module dll anywhere in my application. I did build website and it is not showing up anywhere. Also, why is my custom module doesn't have its own webproject? I would like to have its own webproject so that when I made some modification, I don't have to recompile the whole application. Thanks in advance.

sorry Ron I'm a little lost Did you create a module from the template?
and you shouldn't have to recompile your entire site to view a custom module unless your building the module directly on your site for quick building like the tutuorials from michael washington. if your are building your module from the Visual studio templates then a module has its own project.
I suggest you have a look at this post for more information on module development

If you want to have the module with its own teimplate you must create the project using the "Compiled Module" template.  Michael Washington has a tutorial out there about it at http://dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com I also have a tutorial out on my site http://www.mitchelsellers.com on how to create one using C#.

You are specifically looking for the instructions to build a WAP (Web Application Project) module.

Hi John,

I thank you for your reply. Yes, I create my module by using Visual Studio and then under My Template there is Dotnetnuke Dynamic Module. So, it should create a webproject for me right? I can see the MyModule.dnn, but not the webproj. However, I cannot see that project as well as the .dll file.

If I don't need to build the site, then how I can move my code to the production server. I assumed I need to copy the whole folder to the production server. Please advise...thanks.

Okay,

When you create a compiled module for dnn using the template project, any build dlls are copied to ../../Bin by default. If you lookat that location in comparison to where you created the visual studio project.
If you are just learning module development I would suggest that you first work through one of micheal washingtons tutorials. a good start would be: http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN_ShowMeThePages/
