Alright, I'm running Win2k3 with latest service packs and updates, running SQL v8 or 2005.  I researche ASP.NET and DotNetNuke forum did all my settings.  Walked throught entire DotNetNuke Installation Guide, this is my second time trying this.  At this point if this does not run I'm litterally going to go ape sh*t.  I got this error message.  I know its something simple. Please help me.

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke4' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

I've  installed DNN multiple times today chasing down some other problems, so I've encountered just about every type of error on first accessing the DNN  install.  Make sure of the following:

1) Your database user in your web.config file is specified as db_owner of the DotNetNuke DB in SQL Server

2) Check the security on your web.config file.  Make sure each user has full access (I think is your most likely culprit)

3) Make sure your Virtual Directory in IIS is configured for .Net Framework 2.0

If you still have the problem, then follow the insructions on the above error screen and modify your web.config file so that it will display to you the actual error you are encountering.  Hope this helps.
