Afternoon Folks,

I find myself in the position of, yet again, trying to do things with DNN that I'm pretty sure it wasn't exactly designed to do in the first place... Then again, thats been the case up to this point, so why stop now *laugh*

The situation I've got is that I've got a group of pages set up which, depending on the URL which is passed to them, display completely different sets of data.  Basically, I'm completely virtualizing the directories based off of some work with the FriendlyURL setup.

Anyway, now that I've got the data retrieval set up, I need to add forums as well.  I know, this is going to be a bit trickier, but I suspect it's doable.

Let's pretend for a moment that the structure looks something like World>Countries>US>Ohio (thats the URL)

So, when you go to World/Countries/US/Ohio/Forums.aspx it will either:

A.) Act as if a particular level of the forums are the root level as far as the Users are concerned. (so, they can never navigate above the Ohio level of the forums)

or B.) come into the forums at the point of World/Countries/US/Ohio (it's our plan that every 'directory' will have it's own 'forum' area)

Thoughts on how to accomplish this and if it's even possible?

Thanks,
Brian

There is no way to localized to countrys or other languages at time.  The only way is using the forum module on several pages for countrys.  The user have then maually select thier country.

No, you misunderstand...

I'm going to have a 'virtual directory structure', based off the URL...

For example

site.com\US\NewYork\Buffalo or

site.com\EU\France\Paris

I'd like to have the forums set up that, depending on the URL, I go to either a seperate forum for Paris versus Buffalo, or am taken to the appropriate 'level' of the forum.

does that make sense?

Brian

That is not posible by design.  It needs a localizion of the Forum Module, what is not posible at time.  You can do anything only with some subtabs.

i.e.:

  • Forums
    • US
      • New York
    • EU
      • France
        • Paris
      • Germany

I see no other way.

*nods* and that might be the way I have to do it, with a group heirarchy within the forums... I'd be ok with that, but if thats the route I have to take, how do I direct on page load to that particular 'level' of the forums?
