Is there a reason you starting with 4.0.8?   Or do you mean version 4.8.0?

If you do mean version 4.0.8 might I suggest starting at the minimum with 4.4.1?  I've had the best results starting with that version and upgrading to 4.7.0 from 4.4.1.  I think that this problem is related to a blog from mitch sellers.  I believe if you google this error with mitch sellers in the search string it should take you to his blog about the solution.    And if you start with at least 4.4.1 you won't have to worry about that error.

Hope this helps

Jerry

I downloaded the latest version, but even when you download what it says version 4.80, the files downloaded actually says 4.08 on the directory name. Anyway it is the latest version. I am having this error when I tried commenting the authentication line on the web.config. If I left that as it was, I am getting the parameter value null error. I dont know if I should reinstall everu\ything again. I had so many problems to get the DNN finally installed without errors!  What do you think?

If I have see it right the settings in the web.config for your SQL Server String is still commanded out with <!-- ........--!> .

If you have try to install with this settings, the database is starting to creation and the machineKeys are changed.  You have then delete the database and setting up a new database.

Make sure if you not using the connection strings for the database files you have delte this artifacts or comanded out.  Also if you using a SQL Server connection string make sure the connection string is not commanded out!

Now I have another problem that I will post in another thread.

Thanks a lot  Mike, I had a hard time trying to solve this problem.  I commented the <add name="Authentication"... /> line and now my DNN 8.4.1 works fine.
