OK, I have completed the installation of my DNN (v4.8) site on webhos4life.com in site1 folder.

When I am opening up the site from the browser there is a long delay before the home page opens.

Please forward me to a Thread that discusses this delay and how I can configure my site to have it open quickly.  If there is no thread please discribe the possible reasons and cures.

By the way once it opens it seems OK untill the site is not opened for a while.

This is due to the ASP.NET worker process shutting down due to inactivity.

You can get around this by using a monitoring/keepalive service such as www.host-tracker.com

Note that someone has stated this behaviour to be due to your host's low speed on accessing database. I don't know if it's true, but anyway, see this post.

Hope that helps,
Dario Rossa.

I don't know if this is a repeat.

Mitch,

Your saying that all 4.8 DNN installs have this delay due to inactivity on any host site.  It sort of goes into hibernation I guess.  The site is www.marinendt.com if you want to sample delay.

I looked at host-tracker and they will keep it active.  What interval should host-tracker be set to?

The default IIS time-out is 20 minutes. Hosttracker should let you set 15 minute checks. Set it to check yourdomain.com/keepalive.aspx

You can also use SmarterTools SmarterPing or any of several other desktop site pingers.

Your site appears to be running very well otherwise.

Rob
