Has anyone managed to find a solution this problem as I am getting the same error?

I cannot fathom this out as I installed DDN 4.8 on my local machine without so much as a hiccup but cannot get it to work on our intranet server! It is actually failing on the first <add name>  ie. Compression Why this is fine on my local machine (XP Pro) but not on our server (2003) is mystifying.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you setup permissions on the folder correctly? If using Win2k3 you should give the Network Service account read/write to the DNN folder.

Your error and the original poster's are not the same.  You have IIS, he does not.  I've never tried running DNN inside the VS development server so I can't help him.  You however are likey running into a setup issue with IIS.  My guess is you don't have the correct framework loaded, in 2003/IIS 6 you need to run the 1.x and 2.0+ frameworks in separate app pools.  See www.iis.net for help with IIS.  Make sure you followed the setup instructions carefully as far as permissions go.

Thanks for that - it certainly explained why another 1.x app suddenly failed! I created a new app pool and pointed the DNN site to the new pool but I am still getting the same error. (Although the 1.x app now runs without problem) The Network Service account has been given full rights to the directory so I'm kinda lost.

Any other suggestions?
