I have the need to allow certain users to Upload files to certain directories and add files to the Documents Module.

  1. I have created a group called "Documentation."
  2. I have created a folder under the Root called Documents.
  3. I have given the Documentation group permission to "Write to Folder" for the Documents folder.
  4. I have created a page and added the Documents module to it.
  5. I have given the Documentation group edit rights on both the page and the Module.

When I log in as a member of the Documentation group I can edit the page and the Documents Module title but not add a document to the module. I aslo can't upload files to the documents folder.

I'm using DNN 4.1.1 and the folder is Secure - File System.

Have I missed a step? I have searched on this topic and seem to be doing things right.

Thank you.

I would ensure that the users also have view permissions to the Documents folder that you created.

When using the Documents module users should be able to easily upload files if they have permissions, in the file control they select the folder they want, then click "upload new file" and they are able to upload their file.

Thank you for the reply.

They have View and Write permissions on the folder, on the page, and on the module. The common tasks menu appears but the Files link is grayed out. They are able to edit the title of the module and edit the properties of defined items in the documents module, but the downward arrow is not there so they can't add items and I see no where to upload files.
