This one's driving me nuts, I hope you can help. This issue is happening with Orizonti's NukeNews and Efficion's Articles 3.2.
I have half a dozen sites under development on the same machine, all the same DNN version (4.8) all accessing SQL Server 2005 on the same machine as the websites ie local database. All sites have the same folder and database permissions. One site will not allow either module to be added to a page. I can install the module to the portals without errors, but cannot add either module to a page. The error returned is:

"Error retrieving the article list:
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"

This message suggests a global issue on a remote database server. This error is specific to one portal accessing a local database???

I have also gone through the SQL surface area configuration tool on the server just to be sure. All configurations a correct.

Does anyone have any idea how I even start troubleshooting this?

TIA
MartyNZ

My guess is that since your site is working that these modules are accessing the OLD connection string information.  Ensure that your connection string setting in the <appSettings> section of your web.config are correct and match the settings in the <connectionStrings> section.
