I installed the latest version of DNN form the starter kit and everything seems to be fine except I cannot access my site externally. I setup the installation in my wwwroot under the folder DotNetNuke and I can access my portal from localhost\DotNetNuke but I cannot access it from my domain name or anywhere else. I am running a 2k3 server with IIS 6. I have added my domain in the portal alias list as well, not sure if that matters but I did anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am thinking this is either an NTFS permissions problem or it is one with your IIS.  I assume the domain is pointed to the server already and if pinged returns the proper IP.  Second, I would assume you have your local IIS setup to take in the proper host header (domain) or you are taking in all to a single server (default server).  The next problem would be not having Default.aspx setup as the first document in your list (default page).  Let me know once you complete this checklist.

The domain is pointed to the server and when pinged does return the proper IP.

I know the IIS is setup to take the domain (all to a single server, and I have had a site working on this server and domain before but it was not a DNN site)

Default.aspx is located at the top of the documents list.

I want to be able to access the site just by going to the domain name even though it is in the wwwroot under DotNetNuke folder name but I have tried www.domain.com/DotNetNuke and that doesn't work either.

This goes back to IIS again.  If you can access this via localhost/DotNetNuke I am guessing you only have the default virtual server setup meaning all requests first go to your wwwroot and not your dotnetnuke folder.  For www.domain.com/DotNetNuke to work it would require it to be listed as an alias but I still don't think this is the problem here.  Without me actually being able to see how exactly you have everything setup, the best I can suggest is you put a simple default.htm in the wwwroot with some text and one in the dotnetnuke folder with different text and see what happens when you call it up in a web browser directly and hopefully you can get some answers by calling default.aspx as well.

Ok I made the default.htm file and placed it in the wwwroot and my DotNetNuke folder. I then went to www.mydomain.com and still got the 403 Forbiddn error. I can get to the default.htm by going to localhost and also by I can get to the one in the DNN folder by going to http://localhost/DotNetNuke/default.htm and I can see that but I can see neither externally.
