Hi Guys,

It seems that SharePoint can handle multiple parent portals like DNN can with "host headers", what are host headers and is the DNN offering better than SharePoint here?

Regards,

Host headers are used in IIS web site configuration, to assign multiple domain addresses to the same IP (see IP configuration). DotNetNuke can handle as many domains (host headers) as you would like to point to the same or multiple portals in a DotNetNuke installation.

To add to Sebastian's comment, an installation of DNN doesn't really need to use Host Headers.

You use Host Headers if you are running two completely different sites on the same IP address.  In IIS, you configure a site, indicate which IP address it responds to, and which folder it points to.  If you define the host headers, the site will only respond to the address specified.  You can then use the same IP address but have it point to two different folders on the server.
