Few questions/observations on the forum module in use....

For starters, I cannot seem to edit the toolbar settings of the RTE.  There is the link to edit it, but I cannot make the changes stick.  I do NOT want the users to be able to skim through my file structure like you guys do. (click on the add image in the RTE, and I can zoom all over your files).  How can I allow my users to have some control of their fonts, colors, and whatnot, without giving them the amount of control that FCK gives them?

How do my users link an image?  I have tried everything to get it to work.  I am used to being able to paste an html tag from a site like fquick and have the pic display in a forum. example: this should show a picture, not a link.

Still trying to figure the Avatar system out.  We are testing our forum at www.northstarcamaroclub.net/forum and currently have a few users that are working on breaking it...

Thanks,

Aaron

Oh, and is there a way to automatically log users in when they come back to the page?

Oh found that in the repository folder.  You may want to alter the add image button for users....

Hi Aaron,

The best place to ask questions about the editor is in the FCKeditor forum. I'm afraid I've never had problems with getting the settings saved, so can't help there. One thought is that there are multiple levels of settings for the editor, if I remember correctly - Portal, Module Type, and Module Instance. Make sure you view and save at the right level.

To control what your users see, you need to edit the security on the file structure in the main Portal Admins/File Manager dialogue.

To insert a link to an image, just put the URL into the URL box of the picture dialogue, on the Image Info page

To have people coming back to the site be already logged on, you need to change the cookie settings in your web.config. Change the timeout in '<forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="525600" cookieless="UseCookies" />' to whatever time our want in minutes I think. I believe the default in their is 24 hours. 525600 is one year.

Cheers
Roger

Yeah!  Thanks for the help there.  I will have to have a sticky on my forum to help the user do that.

I will look into the web.config cookie thing, that would be great!  I will also see what it takes to edit FCKeditor.  THere are definately a few quarky things in the module that take some time to understand!

One problem we are having right now is the user online function doesn't seem to work (not just in the forum, even in the user settings section under admin the user online doesn't work...

For Users Online to work, you need to enable it in Host Settings - unticck Disable Users Online. Also enable 'DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.PurgeUsersOnline, DOTNETNUKE' in the schedule.

Cheers
Roger
