Hello everyone! I'm new here...

I'm creating a Portal and the DNN is completely supporting that.
But I have a problem now, I need to create different contents for different users. I'll give an example.

In my company, the DNN users are from different areas, and of course, have different interests. IT wants information about IT, HR wants information about HR...
But all of them will use the same portal and the same modules.

How can I delivery a specific information (in the news module, for example) to one of these groups?
I've read about roles and permissions, but I couldn´t find a good solution for what I need.

Tks in advance,
Vitor

Vitor,

Firstly, welcome! I hope the community can help you get the most out of DotNetNuke.

Secondly, you might want to consider the approach of having modules that are viewable to only specific roles.

The general approach could be outlined as follows:

  1. Create the appropriate Roles
  2. Put your users into the appropriate Roles
  3. Drop a text/html or news module on a page and configure it to display content for a specific role
  4. Drop another instance of the module on the page, and configure its content so that it displays content for a different role
  5. For each module, make it viewable to only that specific role

This may not be satisfactory in all business contexts, but is a very basic (but very solid) approach to displaying different content for different users.

Does that help clear some of your questions up?

Take care,

Ian

Hi Ian,

I had this idea, but the problem is because some information is shared for both areas.
Using this idea, so far I could understand it, when the informantion will be shared between two or more areas I'll need to create duplicated informations, one for each module that I've created.

There's a better solution for this case?

Tks again!
