Did u try having the web.config setting session state.

Eg : <sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="120" /> <!-- session time out set to 2 hours -->

This has to go inside the <system.web> section of the web.config and in general has to be more (or equal) than the dnn users online time setting.

Hello Again,

I have just found out exactly how to handle session time outs and user login expirations in DNN. May be its something trivial but here I go  just for the record at least.

There are 2 settings you need to change in web.config.

1. <sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="20" />

This is the setting which specifies the session timeout in minutes. The ASP.net session will timeout in 20 minutes according to above setting and all your session variables be invalid after that.

2. <authentication mode="Forms">
            <forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="60" cookieless="UseCookies"/>
        </authentication>

This setting decide when to expire the current dnn login and redirect the user to the designated 'Login page' of the site upon a user action. The timeout for this should be either lower or equal to session time out.

In addition u need to specify a 'Login Page' for the site under Admin > Site Settings > Advanced Settings.

Best of Luck!

Uchitha.
