Please help:

I am attempting to modify the following local resource.

Admin>Authentication > App_LocalResources > Login.ascx

Resource Name: PasswordInvalid.Text

Default Value:
You must enter a valid password. Please check with the Portal Administrator if you do not know the password requirements.

Preferred Value:
The password specified is invalid. Please specify a valid password. Passwords must be at least 8 characters in length and contain at least 1 non-alphanumeric character.

I have verified the changes saved however when the user enters a password that does not meet the requirements they still receive the default value. I am somewhat of a noob… What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Heck

I took another look at this a bit ago.

I opend the file manually ...\admin\Authentication\App_LocalResource\Login.ascx.Portal-3.resx and found indeed the "Preferred Value" was in the file.
I then looked in ...\admin\Authentication\App_LocalResource\Login.ascx.resx an it contained the "Default Value". I tried change it to the Preferred value here as well and no change. I went as far as rebooting the machine. I went back into the language editor both the Default and Preferred value was what I wanted to be, howvever it still showing the orginal default value when a user tries to change their password that does not meet the complexity requirements.

Any ideas? Where can it possibly pulling the old value from? Can someone try to replicate the issue please!

Jason, I can't currently try to replicate the issue but you mention rebooting the machine. Was it the server or the computer you're connecting from (or is this a local install)? Have you attempted clearing your temporary internet files (just in case it's return a browser cached message)?

Jason,

please be aware, that any values inside ...Portal-x.ascx.resx override default values as well as those inside  ...Host.ascx.resx

if you are editing files directly, you might encounter not to see updates until app restarts, due to caching

also be aware, that most of the login keys have been moved to /desktopmodules/authentication/auth-providers folder.

I am developing the  portal locally on a workstation. I've dumped my IE temp files several times and rebooted. I even went as far as to run system cleanup (don't know why...) Additionally I accessed the portal from another workstation on my local domain and it is not correct from that location either.

"also be aware, that most of the login keys have been moved to /desktopmodules/authentication/auth-providers folder."

Ok, so I thought maybe there is a oversight and its pulling the default value from the new location. That's not the issue either. No values of this kind in the new location.

Thinking that it may be a portal specific issue I tried the parent portal as well and the language was incorrect there as well.

I'm out of ideas... Any additional direction would be greatly appreciated.
