I have 4.8 and would like to setup authentication to use AD.

I installed 4.8 with the default authentication module.  There are problems with that version.  I removed the installation and started over.  I installed this time without the AD module that comes with 4.8.  After installation, I figured I could just installed the 1.00.03 AD module and i would be good to go.

I logged in as host, module definitions and then tried to installed 1.00.03 AD Install.zip file however I got the following errors.  I looked for installation instructions but could not find any.

The error looks like the following.  Do you know what i am doing wrong? (i am on iis7 and vista)  I have installed a number of DNN sites but none with AD authentication.  Any help would be very much appreciated.

thx-Dave

As the documentation states, you install the provider under Host->Host Settings->Authentication Settings.

Where can I find the documentation?

Thank you _ Dave

Mike, I did find the following document "Active Directory Provider User’s Guide" that you created.  I am not sure how I found it but I have it now.

I am using Vista.  Is it possible to setup AD authentication on localhost? (i will be moving this site to work servers where they will have completed AD setup but while testing can i use on localhost?).  If yes, how?

thx - Dave

Sort of. You have to connect to an actual Active Directory so if your Vista computer is on the domain that you're work servers are then you should have no problems with the provider. Just set it up as per the documentation and point the provider to the AD settings. If your development computer isn't part of the domain then it won't work. That's part of the .NET Directory Services class and there's nothing that I can do to code around it.
