Hi,

I have created three portal aliases for my site like

1. www.domainname.com , 2. www.domainname.co.nz like.

I have one module settings "No. of record to display" in one module... When I set it to "5"  in  www.domainname.com portal and check its value in www.domainname.co.nz portal then it shows me older value.. Any idea how to solve this issue.

Thanks,
Ruchir

Ruchir,

Hey Ruchir, I would like to make sure that you are using the Module Settings and not the Tab Module Settings to store this value, as it seems you would like the value to be set for every instance of the module.

Take care,

Ian

Ruchir:

What Ian says is true, don't confuse the page settings with the actual module settings (an easy mistake to make, it has happened to me a million times).

However, I think that if you have one portal with multiple aliases it is still the same portal, I don't think it will keep separate settings just because you can access it with different aliases, so your premise may be incorrect to start with.  The portal is actually identified internally with the same PortalID number for all those aliases, so it cannot keep track of settings for different aliases.

Ruchir & Carlos,

Good call Carlos -- for some reason I misinterpreted that part of his post and thought he did have two portals....

So...now I'm thinking it may simply be the case that the browser has a different value cached for the different URLs, as the browser itself wouldn't necessarily know the difference.....

Ruchir, have you set the cachetime of your module to 0 and also cleared the cache on your browser?

Thanks,

Ian

Ian:

I don't think it is a browser cache issue.  I think, I'm pretty sure actually, that when you define a specific module, on a specific portal, DNN will be hitting the same definition regardless of what alias you used to get there.  It is like one of my sites, you can get to it using www.collegeparkjudo.org or just collegeparkjudo.org (these are usually not equivalent).  I know for a fact that I cannot customize settings according to alias.  Regardless of the alias you use you will hit the same portal, and same module instances.

Carlos
