I am sure some others must also have this problem.

I am currently on DNN 4.06.02 but the latest DNN then jumped quickly to v4.7 and now v4.8.

I would prefer to keep up with the latest, but when 4.7 was released I noticed some postings said various modules did not work with it.  Also I have no real idea (in plain English) what the changes are.  Now 4.8  is out and I still have no idea of the differences between this and my current version of 4.6.x

Is there anywhere at all that spells out the changes in plain English?  Of course, if some modules (especially the DNN core modules) do not work, is there somewhere these are listed?

I don't want to risk any chance that there will be modules not working and I may have to wait for a site visitor to point it out!

Thanks

I should add... this problem is much the same for DNN modules.  There just doesn't seem to be a plain English outline of what the changes/improvements are... not that I am aware of anyway.

David,

The only real list is the Change Log in Gemini, but that isn't exactly plain english.  I know that typically Chris Hammond will blog about changes, but again it is mostly a re-hash of the various items in the change log.

Personally the only real way to know is to make a backup of your site and try the upgrade locally, I follow that path every time I upgrade.  I personally have decided that for the time being anyway that 4.6.2 is good enough for my DNN site.

Thanks Mitchel

I have looked at the Change log in the past... but most of it makes no sense to me at all.

Such a shame as I would have thought DNN might follow along the lines of most other software-based things and actually say what the new versions can mean to people.

I know it might be a bit of work.to summarise things.. and some programmers have difficulty using common language but it really would help 'sell' it to the layman rather than upgrading DNN and modules then having to try investigating to find out what the differences might be.

Cheers

David
