Hi,

I'm running 4.8.0 DNN. Recently the outgoing email on the site for modules stopped working, so for instance the newsletter functionality for the admins does not send anything out even though it appears successful (no error in the event logs). The funny thing is that when I do a test email on the smtp it does send correctly to the host email. By the way, recently our company changed it's firewall setup so it might have something to do with that....

But anyways, what does the test email do differently from the newsltter email that would cause one to work but not the other?

test email does use another sending user (host address instead of currently logged in user). Check your email addresses and smtp server log.

I checked the log, and it doesn't look like the requests are even getting to the smtp server.

I also checked the email addresses, no problem there. Changing the host address to my gmail account works. However the same gmail account used as the "from " in a newsletter doesn't work.

 

Something interesting, on the same server I have a 4.5.0 DNN site, and the newsletter functionality works there. I tried a 4.6.0 site and that doesn't work. I recently made some changes to my schedulers to increase performance. Would I have stopped some kind of process that the email requires?

After a set of tests with confusing results I finally figured out that it's my html emails that are not going through. Plaintext, such as the smtp test, goes through just fine. Now I just need to figure out how to make html go through...
