Hello, I'm a first time user. Wow! This looks like it will make my life much gooder!

I have installed the latest release 4.8.1 and it is working as expected from what I understand. I have created a page and want to add basic text/html. When I select a module for the contenpane text/html is not listed. I have downloaded the HTML_04.05.00 module and want to install it.

I don't want to seem lazy but have looked in the help section and can not find how to install a module.

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Login as a host account, host menu, module definitions.  Bottom of the page, available modules, select what you want and install selected module.  Then add the module to a pane as you tried before.

Third party modules and module updates are the same, except you need to install new module, browse for the ZIP file, and install it.

I downloaded the gallery module from the DNN website and am trying to upload the zip file to my file manager.  Is this the right place to upload a module for use?

Yes.  And there's no problem adding a core module a second time, it acts as an "upgrade".   But the core modules are not all installed with the setup, you simply select what you want in the checkbox list.  No need to download any modules, unless they are upgrades and the mudule definition list shows if an upgrade is available.
