I recently move my DNN site to a new server and I am unable to log in via the admin account. I updated the web.config with the new SQL credentials, move the database, and made sure the network service account has access to the root of the website. The site is working properly except for the admin portion. When I try to log in using the admin account I am redirected to the home page and the login interface is not displayed. I looked through the logs and verifed the login is correct.

Any ideas? Thanks!

JBerry,

You might want to check your web.config file on the new site to make sure that the machineKey validationKey and decryptionKey attribute entries matches your old web.config file:

<machineKey
      validationKey="..."
      decryptionKey="..."
      decryption="3DES"
      validation="SHA1"/>

I verified the machineKey validationKey and decryptionKeys match the web.config file from the working server. I went through the Event Logs stored in the SQL database and verified a Login Success event is recorded for the admin user when I try to log in. The login does not appear to be the problem, I believe there is something with the admin control panel that will not allow it to display.

 Does the site need any special security permissions or DLL registered? I verified the Network Service user has full access to the root of the website.

From what I can tell it looks like the problem is with the admin login not being cached. How does DNN cache user logins and are there any special settings I need to change on the new server in order for the login to be cached properly?
