My choices to display Categories and Subject List aren't applied. I click update, and the feedback module looks the same as it did before I selected these two options. I have two detailed lists in Categories and Subject...I just can't get them to show up!

I do love that I can now delete feedback--a welcome change over the last time I used the Feedback module.

Thanks

Jennifer

Are you sure you're entering values in the other fields? Due to the way modulesetting save works, you can't do validation, but I think there's a scenario in which the categories don't save (if memory serves me right it's when you leave out the sendto or sendfrom or something like that)... Try making sure you have values in all the fields before saving..

Thanks so much Sanjay! I had the Send To field populated already, but didn't want a Send ToFrom address in there. I took your suggestion and fooled around with the Subject List and Category List in Feedback Settings. The problem was solved when I highlighted the first choice on my Subject List and the first choice on my Category , clicked Category List Visible and Subject List Visible and crossed my fingers. Thanks for your clear and quick answer. My posts to the 'Forums' forum often leave me more confused than I was before I posted.

What happens with the Category when the feedback is sent? Maybe I'm trying to use it in the wrong way. I am still developing my site, and want to have people who go on it (family, friends, etc) to send me quick feedback on spelling errors, etc. I have a list of Subjects such as Not intuitive enough, Spelling Error, Link Doesn't Work, etc., I also have a Category list that is a listing of all pages on my site. My intention is to have the Users select a 'category' (from the list of pages on my site) and a 'Subject' (from the list of possible types of screw-ups I may have made), and I would use it as a report for me to see the 'wheres' and 'whats' of every problem. What happens to Category? I'm thinking perhaps Category is to be used if I want to reroute feedback to specific email addresses using the Send To feature.

Thanks again

Jennifer

Categories are basically used to group your posts in a given "category", while subjects are used to set the subject field on the email being sent... So as an example -one of the uses of the subject is that you could set up your outlook filters to look for specific values in the subject field and set the emails to go to a different folder, etc...
With categories, one of the examples is that you could setup the ViewComments piece to be category specific thereby showing only posts that pertain to a specific category....

I have to admit I too struggled a bit with getting categories visible in the Feedback module.  It is frustrating enabling this field, updating the module, then being totally confused as to why the categories aren't visible...no error/warning messages. And thanks to this dicussion thread, I was able to resolve the problem.

Now, I don't know what to suggest to make it intuitively obvious to the user as to how to resolve (make it work), maybe expanding a little on the help in the hover text on the "Send To" and "Category"  field properties??  Maybe along the lines of:

Modified Send To (Hover Help):

"Enter the email address of the recipient of this message, leave blank if Category List Visible enabled."

Modified Category (Hover Help):

"Select the category this message belongs to (categories are created via the Feedback Lists) . Ensure at least one Category is selected if Category List Visible is enabled."
