hi,

i have a formview tied to objectdatasource. I'm using asp validators to make sure that the data is in the correct format.

Is another way to that. Can i catch the "Page Load Exception" that the objectdatasource generate???where???

i may be thinking the wrong way. i don't know....

thank you :)

Hi Aethon,

Is it possible that you pasted some code into your message that was not propertly formatted?  I am not able to follow the problem you are describing.

In general, a page load exception wraps another underlying exception.  Check your event viewer (under the Admin menu item) to view the call stack for the exception.  This will give you a clue where to investigate further.

hi,

first thanks for the reply and accept my apologies for the wrong formatting :)

My question is:

I have a text box associated with one of the ObjectDataSource parameters. The parameter is described by:

<asp:Parameter Name="ItemId" Type="Int32" />

I'm validating textbox text with asp Validators (Range,RegExp,etc..) without this validation the portal or the objetctDataSource generate an exception when you

mistyped the value.

For example:

Message: DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: sd is not a valid value for Int32. ---> System.Exception: sd is not a valid value for Int32. ---> System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.

Maybe catch in Page_Load but how???i don't know...i'm a beginner in asp and DNN so excuse the question.

thanks :)

Based upon your exception, you are trying to parse the string value "sd" into an integer.  Clearly this will fail, and is the cause of your exception.

Your next step will be to find where this conversion is taking place, and to ensure that it is handled properly.  The correction will very likely NOT involve a try/catch pattern, but instead you'll probably need to replace your Int32.Parse call with Int32.TryParse.
