Very cool I will look into this.

The complicating factor is: In addition to the external(internal really kinda) database users, I need to allow registration outside of this. The external db will be updated daily, but is closed to outside members. The Website will need to handle both, with automatic authorization going to the external users. Lovely.

Regarding the development path, while tempting, if I can get something off the shelf I would be just as happy. Time seems to be rather fleeting these days. I will look it the module Harold recomended.

I have also found a module on Snowcovered (Easy Login Groups & Users Source) that rings in at $395. A hefty price. I would be more encouraged if there were some reviews ...

Thanks for the input!

Hi Marc,

I wanted something off the shelf that would serve my needs as well, but none of the available options would quite cover my exact design requirements.  As a result, I was forced to do the design in-house.  My requirements were very specific, like yours, but seem to differe in some ways.  Maybe one of the available options will work for you.

Also, keep in mind that DNN has introduced the ability to use multiple authentication providers.  You might be able to just enable several different authentication methods, and count on the user to select the correct one.

Good luck!

Brandon

Yeah, I was thinking about that.

I will take a closer look and see what I can do with it.

Thanks!!

If you decide to make DNN DB to be the master db for SSO, you might want to look at the IWEB project.  I can expose the  user accounts in DNN for authentication as web service.
