Gurus. my site was working all ok. Did not do anything since past week; however today when I go to Admin->Event Viewer, to my surprise following appears and I have no clue why? Can anyone please help/guide? Everything else on site is working fine.

Error: Event Viewer is currently unavailable.

Accepted Answer

it looks like there are too many entries. You can clear ALL current entries with the following statement to be run from Host :: SQL:

TRUNCATE TABLE {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}EventLog

Thanks Sebastian. Actually this happened because yesterday I purchased hacker safe certification for my site. They run remote hacking simulations and many other scans which pumped around 13000+ entries in my event log. I feel that the design should be such that it should page no matter how many rows are in event log, an intelligent pagging mechanism should be able to do that, never the less that's not my immidiate concern.

Can you guide how can I use the "host->scheduler" to purge my event log every 12 hours?

I thank you much in advance.

Sincerely,
