I am experiencing problems with both the "Predefined XSL Transformation" and "User Defined XSL Transformation".  In the UDT I am getting errors:

XSL Tranformation failed. Switched back to Default Grid Table.
StyleSheet:~/DesktopModules/UserDefinedTable/XslStyleSheets/AdvancedTable.xsl
Error Description:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

When I first select/edit the XSL, click "Save Settings and Return" the grid displays properly, but subsequent refreshes display the error mentioned above.  Strangely, it only seems to affect UDT's on the front page of the DNN site.

My own XSL is well formed (it is based upon the XSL Editor) but I am more concerned that the Predefined XSL Transformations are causing this error too.

Has anyone seen something similar to this?  If so, what is the resolution?

Thanks,

c0utta

I resolved this problem, but it does show that DNN is somewhat inconsistent at times and needs "resetting". Using Admin account: - Admin-Site Settings - Advanced Settings-Home Page -> set to another page - Update then: - Admin-Site Settings - Advanced Settings-Home Page -> set back to Home page - Update UDT displays correctly. DNN is a great product, but it's these types of problems which I believe hamper it's broad acceptance. Cheers, c0utta

c0utta, can you please report the DNN and UDT versions? Anything special, human friendly urls, etc?

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your interest, and I've been able to isolate the issue even further - forget my previous explanation.

If I use a logo for my site (Admin-Site Settings-Basic Settings-Appearance-Logo) the link is shown as http://[my site]/Default.aspx?base. When I click this link I receive the error as specified below - this is a problem because many of my users click the logo to return to the "Home" page. If they use the menu to return to the "Home" page (http://[my site]/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx), the UDT is displayed correctly. As a result, I have removed the logo.

"Use Friendly URLs?" is turned on with the following (standard) settings:
.*DesktopDefault.aspx(.*) ~/Default.aspx$1
.*EditModule.aspx(.*) ~/Default.aspx$1
.*/TabId/(\d+)(.*)/Logoff.aspx ~/Admin/Security/Logoff.aspx?tabid=$1
.*/TabId/(\d+)(.*)/rss.aspx ~/rss.aspx?TabId=$1
[^?]*/TabId/(\d+)(.*) ~/Default.aspx?TabId=$1

My DNN version is 04.05.05 and my UDT version is 03.04.00.

Thanks for your help,

c0utta

Thank you, that would explain what is happening. The "base" parameter caused a lot of trouble, now it causes also an issue regarding UDT.

The parameter was removed some DotNetNuke releases ago.
