I was able to upgrade a site fine while on localhost.  I had problems however when trying to do the exact same upgrade at the client site.  It is the same version 4.8.0 but when i ran install.aspx it replied back with sql provider error

I am currently accessing the site at their location with a port number i.e. http://10.110.110.14:8011  Would this cause any problem?  There is nothing else really different between my local test setup and the client site.

I had to reverse the upgrade in hopes that I might get a clue from here.  It told me to check the log file.  Where can I find this log file?

thank you - Dave

Hi David,

the problem with the sql provider may be due to the connections strings, you should pay attention to update it in the release.config file before renaming it on the client. The log files for the sql scripts can be viewed in the Host > Host Settings menu, on the bottom of the page.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

I looked there first also but I had updated the sql provider information correctly. I copied it from the prior web.config so I know that is good

I had installed the AD 1.03 provider.  Could this have had an impact?

Also, I was using a port number 10.100.100.14:8011 to acess the site.  I had put this same value in the portalalias table.  Could this have had an impact?

When the upgrade failed I couldn't log back in to see host settings log information.  So that is what confused me.  Are there log files that are accessible if the portal/site is not running correct?

thx

We had the same issue on our production site and hece we also had to revert back.

Later, during deep investigation as to why the tester certified release did not work on production deployment, we found that it happened because during ftp few of the files although seemed ok in size, were actually corrupted. Restore the bin folder, reapply the upgrade pack, Create another web.config file from the upgrade "release.config" file, and run the install wizard, it should go fine.

Your url timed out and hence not sure this is the same issue what we faced.

Hope this helps,

Sincerely,
