I need to be able to click on the categories list and get a sub-categories list and then list the products. That way the customer doesn't have to go through all the products in a category.

For example:

Category  Sub-Category Model
Electric Guitars Fender Stratecaster

How do I get a list of sub-categories to show up instead of all the products?

How do I get all the products to show up when a certain sub-category is clicked?

I could do this pretty easily in a regular .NET app, but DNN Kind of limits things.

David, I apologize for I am not completely able to understand your question, although I believe I can assist. We have similar implementation on our production site. If you visit our site, on the left hand side you will see all the categories, if you click any of the categories all the sub-categories beneith it are then listed (for e.g try clicking "Specials" on our prod site), then once you click the sub-categories (for e.g. Valentines Day), sub-sub-categories are listed. Meanwhile in the central pane all the products belonging to the specific category/sub-category/sub-sub-cateogry (as clicked and chosen) are automatically pulled it. This is the way store is designed to work (by default).

Visit out site www.umaisa.com, and let us know if thats not what you are looking for. Store provides a lot of methods to pull categories, and products in different combinations.

Sincerely,

Yes, you did understand my question -- exactly. Thanks.

I checked out your site and that's just how I have my sub categories set up. I guest that is just the way Store works.

By the way, I really like your skin. That's pretty much how I wanted my layout to be, but with different colors. Where did you get the skin? Also I like how the products are set up: with the title at the top a short description at the bottom with the price.

Then when you click on "More Info" it takes you to a page with a more detailed description. Mine isn't doing that yet, how do you set iit up to do that?

Sure, we can share how we achieved what you saw. Regarding the skin, I guess our support team already replied to your request.

If you can send us the link of your website, we can take a look.

What you saw on our site, needed some changes in the template files.

If you have development environment, following are the steps to achieve automatic navigation to the "product details":

1) Create a page named "Store" -> Give view permission to everyone
2) Create another page named "Store Admin" -> Give view/edit permission to "Admin" only
3) On the Store Admin page insert the "Store Admin" module.
4) On the page you created on step 1 - on the left pane insert "Store Menu" module
5) On the same page (created in step 1) - on the center pane inser the "Store Catalog" module,
6) Now create the "Categories", "Sub-Categories" and "Products"
7) Logout, go back to home page and you will see the exact same functionality you saw on our site.

Above is valid for DNN 4.8.0 and current store module (2.01).

Hope that helps,

Sincerely,
