Anyone have this working on W2k8 and IIS 7 with DNN 4.8.2?

Hey Andrew

I downloaded a virtual machine version of Server 2008 but it's not working properly so I haven't gotten any farther ahead in checking out the possible problem. I'm currently trying to get a version from our school wide IT department.

I did a little more searching and found that IIS7 needs to have the metabase compatibility installed since it doesn't exist anymore (reference).  I had it installed already, but the Network Service account does not have access to it be default.  To fix this for IIS7 I found the answer in a MSDN article for Commerce Server which says to give the user/group running the App Pool read access to the file %windir%\System32\inetsrv\config\applicationHost.config.  Once I gave Network Service read access (nothing more) the auto login starting working right away.  Might be something to add the installation documentation.  Thanks for the help Mike!

Andrew/Mike,

I desparately need to get autologin working on my site, please help me!

I sort of had this working with version 01.00.03 of the provider whereby users who came to the site had their name displayed next to a logout link and their details where stored in the SQL database. I noticed however, that when i went to the site, i was presented with the standard register and login options on the top left of the page. I assumed this was because i was using windows authentication in the site's IIS settings and impersonation in the web.config file so the Host settings have my account set as the ASP.NET Identity. is this the case? if so, how do i get around it?

I decided to upgrade as it was not working as expected and have installed and configured the 01.00.04 beta version of the provider from the forums. I configured this exactly as i had the previous version configured and now my users all get presented with the register and login options on the top left of the page. Can anyone please help me, i really need this to work as one of their requirements is to provide a level of personalisation without having windows authenticated users login.

Please help, my setup is:

Win XPSP2, IIS 5, DNN 4.0.8, .NET 2, SQL Server 2005

Andy
