Hello all,

I recently created a DNN module which will retrieve all users of a particular portal in DNN (based on the PortalID). The module contain a GridView which is used to list out all the retrieved users.

The problem is I am only able to retrieve all users and list it out on a GridView when login with a user that have rights to Edit (e.g.: Administrator, Superuser, or any user given Edit rights). As I try to debug the module, I notice that only user with Edit rights able to retrieve those records (in other words, only in Edit mode), then only the page will actually postback and hit the Page_Init & Page_Load events, otherwise it will just postback but not hitting the Page_Init & Page_Load events. Even if I login with Administrator user which have Edit rights and able to switch between Edit & View mode, and if I switch to View mode, the page will just postback but not hitting the Page_Init & Page_Load or any other events such as a button event.

Hope someone can shed some ideas on why and how to fix the problem.

Cheers,

Eric

Hey,

When experiencing unexpected behavior of this nature it is nearly always the module's cachetime setting. This setting should be 0 so the module is not cached.  This will lead to consistently loading the module each time -- therefore consistent behavior.

Check it in your module registration under the module definition section.  Host -> Module Definitions -> Edit your registration -> Middle Section "Module Definitions"

Let me know if that clears up the issues you are seeing.

Take care,

Ian

Hi Ian,

Thank you so much for your help. It does clear up the issue now.

Anyway, do you know how to programmatically remove/hide the Control Panel, disable the Add module button and hide all the Left, Right, Top, Bottom and ContentPane from being editable? Can this be done?

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Eric

Eric,

You will be able to control the visibility of all of these elements using DNN's role based permissions.

Take care,
