Hello friends,
                     I am new to DNN. I jst downloaded the DNN 4.0 application, installed it on my local machine where it is working fine. Now i would like to acces it over LAN.
But on anyother machine over LAN it is showing "Page not found" message. I checked  out  connectivity of LAN using telnet and ping. There is no prob related to it. Check out IIS permissions, Database permissions, Firewall settings are off. When i am trying to access site over LAN the ipaddr. is get converted to localhost  e.g.

if i type http://IPAddr/Dotnetnuke_2it gets converted into http://localhost/Dotnetnuke_2

                               When I am trying to access by directly typing http://IPAddr/Dotnetnuke_2/errorpage.aspx it's working but unable to open Default.aspx page. 
Anyone can suggest solution for it. Where is the problem ???

Hi Dhananjay, this is a pretty common problem with a very easy solution.  Log in under the Localhost machine and go to Site Settings located under "admin" and all the way down at the bottom there is a "Site Alias" section in which you can add an entree for.  So in your example you would put http://IPAddress/Dotnetnuke_2

This should be the end to that problem.  So good luck!

Oh make sure yoru using the HOST account.

make sure to add the external address as additional portal alias:

  • log in as superuser ("host")
  • go to Portals in Host menu
  • select your portal
  • scroll down settings page to the far end, where portal aliases are displayed
  • add portal alias
  • try again to access portal from other pc
