You'll want to take a look at the "Portals" option off of the Host menu.  Parent portals are generally portals with their own domain (www.mydomain.com), while child portals typically exist as subdirectories off of their parent's domain (www.anotherdomain.com/mychildportal).  Is this the kind of information you were looking for?

Brandon,
I'm pretty new to this DNN thing and was wondering if you or anyone else could tell me how to resolve my portals in DNS? I have a block of IP's and a main site (let's say the site is called mainsite.com and the IP is x.x.x.10) I'd like to create a parent portal (let's call it parentportal.com.) Do I just point parentportal.com to the same IP as mainsite.com (e.g. x.x.x.10)? Or do I have to set it up another way?

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Rob

Hi Rob,

You didn't specify, but I'm assuming that your parentportal.com DNS has either an A record = x.x.x.10, or a CNAME record = mainsite.com. I'll also assume that you have IIS configured to direct all configured IP addresses to your DNN application.  This should be more or less your default configuration.

If both of those things are true, then you should just need to set up your parentportal.com DNN portal as a new parent portal, specifying parentportal.com as the domain name.  DNN will take care of the rest.

Let me know if I need to clarify further.  It sounds like you're pretty much pointed in the correct direction already.
