I have made my first attempt for a skin to DNN, it is a html/CSS skin.

I get an error message when i install it but I can't find whats wrong. As far as I have read on different sites and tutorials it should work.
It is probably something very obvious but I can't find the error.

  • Error loading attribute file: D:\hshome\jivanoff\dnn.ivanoff.info\Portals\_default\Skins\SMTF\SMTF/skins/skin.htm
  •  

    • And when I try to load the skin i get the message that the skin does not contain any skin files.

    For one thing, you will need to remove the HTML, HEAD, and BODY tags from your skin.  That alone should make a difference.  But I would also suggest renaming your skin to something other than "skin".  I think this might be throwing the skinning engine a curveball, but I wouldn't know for sure unless I checked the source code.  I would suggest renaming that file to something more general, like "Portal.htm".  Don't forget to change the name of the preview JPG file to match.

    I usually do ASCX skinning personally as I find it much easier, but to each his own. I think you need to have the files in the root of the zip. Also ,you don't need IDs for the TDs when doing HTML token skinning. This is however necessary when doing ASCX skinning (as well as adding runat="server").

    I thought I'll try html skinning first, it is a layout a friend has made. The IDs are for use with the css file. There are no TDs, it is a pure CSS layout.
