In the pinned admin post at the top of this forum the admin message states:

"If you are looking for other skins - try downloading the 3.1.1 build in the archives and unzipping, go to the Install/Skins folder and you'll see a handful of extra free skins that were embedded but removed due to file sizes - it doubled the size of the release."

I have downloaded both the install and the source packages for 3.1.1 and cannot find any skins in the Install/Skin (there is no Skins folder in Install) folder. I looked in Portals/_default/Skins but only found the DNN-red, green, blue, yellow, gray standards.

I must be reading something wrong here because that message has had thousands of views! Any insights? Thx.

Those are the skins referred to.  Originally, all of those color schemes were included in fresh DNN installations.  Now, only Blue and another color are included in the installations.

There are also some other skins that are from earlier releases - They are tested and packaged here - http://www.dnnskins.com/free-3013-skins.aspx

The two skins I provided in that release are in my other link - http://www.dnnskins.com/ninas-free-skins.aspx - They were the XDMedia Blue which I've revitalised at http://xdnewblue.dnnskins.com and the XDPersonalBlue - but these two were also in the default release.

I'm not 100% but the reason I think these skins ended up being left out was because it really was taking up alot of space in the downloads - it brought the installation up to about 13mb - and people were finding it hard to install due to timeout.

Nina, I think you are 100% correct about that.  I remember reading a blog post or thread by a core team member stating that the reason the additional skins were being left out to lessen the overall file size since there are still people using dial-up to download the installation packages, and in many instances the download would time out.

@ Thomas

There was a typo in the text, I changed it.

You should download 3.0.13 for the extra skins. There are 6 extra skins in the package.
