Ok i think i have to show you, because this is really crazy.
1. I downloaded fresh 04.08.02 > extracted > uploaded > edited web.config for connection to database ...
2. Installed with custom install, changing settings only for host, admin, portal name
3. Created test account
4. I copied default skin "Horizontal Menu - Fixed Width.ascx" and renamed it to "Horizontal Menu - Doctype.ascx" then i added "Horizontal Menu - Doctype.doctype.xml" with DTD specified in above post to it ... then i created 2 pages ... Quirks and Standard ... Quirks is ordinary page with default skin, where i just added user account module for comparison. For Standard page i set skin ""Horizontal Menu - Doctype" and also added user account module ... everything looks right ... when changing between those 2 pages there are minor graphic differences, due to changed render mode, but alignments are OK ... Now if I enter profile (from loginlinks) from Quirks page, everything is normal ... But when i change to Standard page and enter exactly same profile from loginlinks, now its missaligned. |Everything inside credentials, password, profiles ... So now tell me is problem then? 
... There is only one explanation, standard rendering mode is not supported by non-paged modules, because only in these are problems, i mean those like all admin, host links, editing modules etc. Because as you can see profile module on standard compliant page is aligned well.
