I did a search and the posts I found didn't completely answer my issue.
I am having trouple with the content areas. If I try it to add content
this way, The panes show up when trying to add a module but my CSS
styles cease to work:

If I do it this way, my CSS styles work fine but I only get the "CONTENTPANE" as an option when adding a module:
