I was wondering if anyone could possibly walk me through step by step on installing DNN on a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Service Pack 2. My Web Host is Bluehost. I am what you call an oldie so technological babble is gonna fly through me. I was hoping that someone could possibly help me in as easy as possible for me to understand. Let me put it this way. Explain it to me as if I am a rock. THanks.

If you are trying to get your DNN site up and running on a web host such as Bluehost, it does not matter what operating system you run locally (at home or work - your own computer.) So as long as Bluehost supports Windows based hosting and offeres SQL Server databases you should be good to go.

On the other hand, if you are trying to "paly with" DNN locally, then you'll need at least XP Professional ... XP Home and XP Media Center Edition 2005 won't do.

Try this for local installations:

Thank you very much for the reply Tom. I can see that my question was a bit confusing. What I wanted to know is how do I use DNN with bluehost. I tried transferring the install package of DNN to the root folder of Bluehost, and that is pretty much all I did. Hopefully that helps you answer my question better. Basically how do I use DNN with Bluehost. Again thank you very much for the reply.

Looking at this page, I don't see any Windows hosting (IIS/SQL Server, etc) support at all ... am I missing something?
