My simple Repository blog does not show the username of the blogger after 'by'.

I thought I could just go to Language Editor and add [USER] after by (that was a guess). but that just put [USER] in the blog!

I am a newbie to DNN so if anyone replies to this thread, please speak to me as if I am five years old. Eg. if you said to me 'you need to go in and edit an .ascx file, then I wouldn't know how to 'go in' and would need step by step instructions.

Thanks guys, sorry, I didn't know there was a Help file with each module. I'll wait for my brother to come home to help me with that one but in the meantime if anyone else is looking for a solution, here's what I ended up doing. (DNN 4)

  1. Login in as either Admin or Host
  2. Click Host > Languages or Admin > Languages
  3. Click Language Editor hyperlink
  4. In the left hand folder column, expand Local Resources > Desktop Modules > Repository > Templates > blog > App_Local Resources
  5. Click on form.ascx
  6. Look in the grey bars for the following headings and change accordingly:
  7. EMail.Text: change 'Your EMail Address' to 'Your Username'
  8. EMail.Help: change both 'valid email address' and 'email address' to 'username'
  9. ShowEMail.Text: change 'show my email address' to 'show my username'
  10. ValidateEMail.Text: change 'You must enter your EMail address' to 'This is a required field'
  11. This will enable the Username of the blogger to appear as many people will not want their email address showing but will still want the 'by' field populated with their username
  12. Now just pray this email field is not actually used by DNN for anything other than the text after 'by'!

Jess
