Hi,

I need some help. I'm a very beginer with DNN and I downloaded and installed Starter Kit on my PC. I'm using Visual Studion 2005 and running DNN localy on Cassini web server. I bought the book "Professional DotNetNuke 4.0: Open Source Web Application Framework for ASP.NET 2.0" and strated to do things. First one ther (Cap. 12) says: "Developing Modules with Visual Studio .NET 2005" and starts with a very simple module "HelloWorld". I've done all the steps in the book and when I come to build the web site in VS2005 I get this error: "Error 1 The files '/DNN/App_Code/HelloWorld/DataProvider.cs' and '/DNN/App_Code/AssemblyInfo.vb' use a different language, which is not allowed since they need to be compiled together. / " I choose C# as the language for my module and I was let to believe this should wotk, but it didn't. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks

Good news. Was able to find on this Forum the answer. See: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/111/threadid/180005/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I was missing

add directoryName="HelloWorld"

in web. config. (it was missing from the book as well)

Still have some Warnings from the build, but will look after them later:

F:\DNN\DesktopModules\HelloWorld\ViewHelloWorld.ascx.cs(132,17): warning CS0168: The variable 'intProperty' is declared but never used

F:\DNN\DesktopModules\HelloWorld\Settings.ascx.cs(88,17): warning CS0618: 'DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.PortalModuleBase.SynchronizeModule()' is obsolete: 'This method is deprecated. Plaese use ModuleController.SynchronizeModule(ModuleId)'

F:\DNN\DesktopModules\HelloWorld\EditHelloWorld.ascx.cs(146,21): warning CS0618: 'DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.PortalModuleBase.SynchronizeModule()' is obsolete: 'This method is deprecated. Plaese use ModuleController.SynchronizeModule(ModuleId)'

F:\DNN\DesktopModules\HelloWorld\EditHelloWorld.ascx.cs(189,17): warning CS0618: 'DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.PortalModuleBase.SynchronizeModule()' is obsolete: 'This method is deprecated. Plaese use ModuleController.SynchronizeModule(ModuleId)'

Validation Complete
