I had to reinstall a dnn application since there was a problem with the first installation. However, when I reinstalled, I didn't get the option of installing the optional modules that you get with the wizard. Consequently there were no modules to choose from in the "Available Modules" section of the "Module Definitions".

I tried the Instal "New Module" but obviously I don't know what to select for a new module. I selected the dll that I thought was the correct choice, but the error message said that the extension was incorrect.

I've tried to find some instructions on how to proceed with this, but I'm not having any luck. Could someone please point me in the right direction as to:

1) what the steps are to install a new module and

2) where I find the files to install and what they are?

Hello.

The way this has worked for me has been to go to the DNN site and download the module (Documents) for example and that downloads as a .zip file (in DNN-speak they are called PA's or Private Assemblies)

Once you have the .zip file, you can login as host, go to Module Definitions, goto Install New Module, Browse to the .zip file, and once that is done click Install New Module and it should display a series of steps in the install.  It should say Module Successfully Install or something of that nature.

You can then use the module in the Control Panel and add it to your Pages, etc.

Assuming third party module:  Log in as Host, open the Host menu -> Module Definitions.  At the bottom, select Install New Module, browse to the downloaded ZIP file for the module, install.  Do not unzip the module before doing this.

Third party ones all over, Snowcovered, individual site, DNN Marketplace...

For core modules, download from DNN and see the pinned post at the top of this forum, Where did the modules go?
