Greetings,

I am experiencing the following problem:

I'm trying to publish a grid view containing  a directory of staff.
The Datasource for thie grid view returns the staff member's name and id.
The problem arises when I  try to list all the phone numbers and emails per person.

I cannot do that via the previous data source, as it would return several repetitions of the same person. So, I used the Item Template feature of the grid view and put another gridview inside it,  with a data source that brings all the tel. #'s and email addresses for a certain staff id.

My question is the following: how can I point the variable to the required staff id (which is returned in the original query)?
When I set the data source to select the variable, all I can point it to is the gridview that returned the first query (with the staff member and id).

Any ideas?

Once again, many thanks in advance for all your help

Lubatico:

Also check this site: http://www.webswapp.com/codesamples/aspnet20/nestedgridviews/default.aspx.  It is even a better example with a live demo and source code in VB.  Click on the little arrow on the left to see it in action.

On the same site, this guy has a bunch of examples of embedding complex controls inside of other containers (Formview, Gridview, Detailsview, Datalist) and how to use their events, data binding, etc.  Excellent work.  See it here: http://www.webswapp.com/codesamples/aspnet20/dependentlists/gridview.aspx and don't forget that all the examples are live, click Edit on the gridview for instance.  And don't forget to see the other tabs at the bottom and the subjects on the left.

I have to say it again, excellent work!!!  I learned a lot from those examples.

And notice that the examples are not exactly DNN but all techniques presented work without problems in DNN modules as far as I have been able to apply and test.

Carlos
