Hi,

I planned to create a language pack for DotnetNuke and for that i downloaded a full language pack and traslated the whole commands and tried to upload zipped resource folder. Then i got a file missing error like this

StartJob Load manifest file.
EndJob Load manifest file.

StartJob Deserializing manifest file.
EndJob Deserializing manifest file.

StartJob Unzipping language files
Info File ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR1/ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR/AdminResource/Authentication/Authentication.ascx.tr-TR.resx missing in Language Pack manifest.
Info File ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR1/ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR/AdminResource/Authentication/Login.ascx.tr-TR.resx missing in Language Pack manifest.
Info File ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR1/ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR/AdminResource/Authentication/Logoff.ascx.tr-TR.resx missing in Language Pack manifest.
Info File ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR1/ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR/AdminResource/ControlPanel/Classic.ascx.tr-TR.resx missing in Language Pack manifest.
Info File ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR1/ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR/AdminResource/ControlPanel/IconBar.ascx.tr-TR.resx missing in Language Pack manifest.
Info File ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR1/ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR/AdminResource/Files/FileManager.ascx.tr-TR.resx missing in Language Pack manifest.
Info File ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR1/ResourcePack.Full.04.07.00.tr-TR/AdminResource/Files/WebUpload.ascx.tr-TR.resx missing in Language Pack manifest.

and  at the end an error message like this:

StartJob Importing language files
Info Import file: GlobalResources.tr-TR.resx
Failure There was an error loading a Language Pack resource file. Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

So I tried with another reaadymade language pack. I downloaded, unzipped and again zipped the folder and tried to install it. Still the same error( file missing). ( It was working fine with the originla resource file). Is it problem with zipping ang unzipping or is or was it the problem with my DotnetNuke. I have used the install folder to install DotnetNuke. I am using the DonetNuke Version 04.08. Can you find a solution......??? and Thanks in advance..

do NOT unzip language packs, they use a specific format. upload it as it is (Using "install language pack" in Host :: Languages), do the modifiations you need and recreate a language pack using "create Language Pack" in same module.

Thanks Sebastian for taking time to look into my post and Can i make my point a bit more clear ... I want to create a new language pack for Malayalam Language(Kerala,India). So can you please say whether i went through the right way. It was like this;

1.  Clicked on language editor, Selected the local resource files with the available locale set to "English" and mode to "System"

2.  Updated each page after translating them. Went to language main page.

3. After that i selected the resource file verifier. But still it had only one Locale:  English (United States) (en-US)

4. I continued by clicking on the  create language pack in the main page and and i got a creaet language pack page with resource locale as English, resource type as

Full and Resource Pack Name as ResourcePack.Full.<version>.<locale>.<zip>. and i clicked create.

5. There i got a link to "Download ResourcePack.Full.04.08.00.en-US.zip" and i downloaded the language pack.

6. I was not able to find an option to set the langauge pack's display name. So I unzipped the file and made changes to the

manifest.xml ( changed the display name and changed .resx to .ml-IN.resx)  and zipped the resource pack again.

7. Now when i try to install the above resource file. I got the above posted  error.

Can you point me where I went wrong???

Thanks,

Deepak Padiyath

you need to start by adding your language ("ml-IN"), if it is not listed in the dropdown, you need to add it to .Net framework, there is a post from Vincenç with an appropriate MSDN reference somewhere in this forum. Afterwards you can enter the language editor, switch to your language and overwrite the copied english text values. Finally create a language pack like you did before, but with appropriate language. AFAIK the new language needs to be added to the target computer, before anyone is able to install your LP. Sorry, this is a restiction of .Net framework, not ours.
