I was told about this DNN program, that is was a great new open source code program, which was easy to use in developing web sites.

So i downloaded the install pack and I have to tell you im not finding this easy to use. Now I admit to knowing nothing in the fields of SQL, .NET, .asp and only the basics from college in .VB. I have always worked with HTML and javascript. However I can not even work out how to install DNN to try it out.

Can anyone give me any pointers please?

Do you need something like a .NET software sweet to install?

Thanks for your time.

Adam,

I am not sure what you have seen or tried.  My first suggestion is to make sure you download the documentation ( http://www.dotnetnuke.com/tabid/125/default.aspx ) and read the Installation Guide (make sure to get the version which corresponds to your DNN version).  If you have done this, then please post the specific problem details and we will help get you through the installation process.

I consider myself fairly well-versed in these technologies, yet I find installing DNN a major pain as well. I've tried to install for three days now with no luck. As you can see from this forum, many, many others are also having issues installing. Good luck.
