I intend to implement DNN 4.8.2.  The current system (the one being replaced) receives approximately 1.5 Million Hits Per Day with a peak in the past of 2 Million Hits Per Day.  I was curious if anyone has experience with a DNN installation receiving this type of traffic (single portal) and what there hardware configuration looks like (processors, memory, physical drives, etc.).  We intend to use Windows Server 2003 (no restriction on Standard, or Enterprise) and SQL Server 2005, Web Server and SQL Server will be located physically on two separate machines.  Are there advantages to placing the application files on a separate machine from the web server?  Any help regarding the architecture to support this type of configuration would be appreciate or any sample specs from current implementation receiving this type of traffic, keeping in mind room for future growth.

Thanks.

Derek

Forget the fact that it's DNN.  DNN is just another ASP.NET application as far as the architecture is concerned.  Now hit Microsoft's server and IIS information, and possibly the hoster information, for suggestions.  Try www.iis.net for help, check the IIS Resource Kit, especially the performance chapters and also check SQL 2005 resources.
