From the looks of the second post in this thread he was able to do it on the current version that is installed here on DotNetNuke.com

Sometimes I need to think before I post :) thanks John.  I cannot do this but it is obviously an issue.  I think it might have something to do with John and I both being moderators and you not being one.  Like it did for John, I can get to the post but not update it.  This is the exact opposite of that which is desired.

Just logged in with a normal account, noticed that the edit did happen on my previos change but it didn't show until now.  So this is an issue not just for reg users but mods too.  A check must be added.
