I am trying to run a dnn project on a ftp hosting site, the problem is as soon as I put the start up project on the ftp and remote to the ftp site with visual web developer 2008, I get an error Server Error in / Application when I run the default.aspx page as view in browser it doesn't run. The resource cannot be found, I am trying to run the start up and run the installation. I am trying to figure the problem out Im not sure if the hosting ftp site or my domain name has to be added to the web.config file if it does then which element tags does it use. Im not sure why this isnt working I have no problem running this project on the local sql server express on my local machine. Please help and post instruction specific thanks.

if you have an IIS hosting space (http required) with ftp access, you usually create your site offline, prepare for running from live server and upload whole site and database, without requiring Visual Studio. There is a pinned thread in this forum, how to move a site.

Specific instructions are found in the documentation, a separate download.  Do not use the Starter Kit and do not use Visual Studio.  Download the Install version, read the instructions and install.
