Hello,

I'm running DNN 4.3.6 and lately I'm having a lot of issues with user accounts having login problems.

In all cases there's a long delay when users try to login that usually results in a “cannot display the webpage” page load error. However, in all cases if you try refreshing the page during the login delay, it will let you in.

About 2 weeks ago I made a skin change but i doubt this is the cause. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jesus-

Have you thought about upgrading? 4.4.0 had a lot of performance improvements that help speed up DNN sites.

Do you have a lot of users? Any customization of the core code?

Thanks for the quick reply Chris. Yes I'm in the process of preperations for upgrading to 4.8.2 but I'm not quite ready yet. I'm still getting my dev enviroment set up and will upgrade from there first.

Currently I have around 90 registered user accounts.

However, about 2 weeks ago I added a new skin package. I made a few custom tweaks by adding a new set to the skin package. I made no core code tweaks but added some customized html pages for the different page formats, and added a new class to the skin.css.

When a user other than me (host account) tries to login or register a new account, the application just hangs there. If you stop the browser from executing the login, or refresh the page during login, it actually lets them in but with the login screen still on the page. Very strange indeed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jesus-

Also, check the DNN event log. If you cannot login as Host user run the following SQL query directly on your database:

SELECT

TOP 100 * FROM EventLog ORDER BY LogCreateDate DESC

This query will list top 100 most recent event log entries, in some cases the key to the problem can be uncovered with in the logs.

Thanks Slavic,

Please excuse my lack of knowledge in this area but, when I login as host, do I access the event logs on the Host/Schedule page by checking the history on the DotNetNuke.Services.Log.EventLog.PurgeLogBuffer, DOTNETNUKE?

Thanks,
Jesus-
