Hi,

I have installed the Forum 4.4.3 on DotNetNuke 4.5.5.  I know that the new version 4.4.4 will fix a huge list of bugs, but I want to know if that version will be supported on DotNetNuke 4.5.5.

If not I will have to modify the source code to fix some bugs that the QA Team noticed (already listed on Gemini). What is the best way to integrate the source code on the DotNetNuke installation and then be able to modify it?

Thanks,

Jose L. Rivera

Hi Jose,

first the Forum 4.4.4 did not pass the testing phase.  At time there is a work on Forum 4.4.5 but I do not know when it will be released.  I think the lowest DNN version will be 4.6.2, but I suggest you to upgrade to DNN 4.8.3 to fix some security issues.

To modify the source you need for all WAP Modules Visual Studio 2005 / 2008 Professional.   With the comming VS WebDeveloper Studio 2008 SP1 the WAP will be ingreated.   After recompile the Module you have to create a new packecke to install in the portals.  Use the Module Developer Manuals you can download from this side.

Thanks Matthias!!!

The suggestion to upgrade the DNN version is very valid, and that is what I have done with my personal clients. But this client is from my company and I am not the one who makes those kinds of decisions. We have changed the core code and inclusive the authentication module (membership). The project required a lot of modification.  So basically upgrade is not an alternative for us, at least for now.

Thanks for mentioning the WAP development model. I wasn’t aware of this methodology of module development. Now I know how to debug modules developed using WAP.

Regards,

Jose L. Rivera
