Is it possible to grant a user of my portal limited administrator privileges...?

I know that you can allow users to edit certain pages and modules by making them Page Editors, but I'd like to do more than this.  I would like to annoint one of our portal users' "backup administrator" type status.  This person would be responsible for very basic portal maintenance tasks in the event that I am ever out of town or too busy to perform minor operations.  The Page Editor role helps with some of this, but I would also like this user to be able to manage portal users via User Accounts.  This (User Accounts) is the ONLY Admin control I would like the user to have access to, though, and possibly the Pages tool also.  Aside from this item/these items, I would like all other administrator abilities to be hidden and/or disabled.  Hopefully that makes sense...

Is something like this possible...?

Thanks in advance.

Lee Sykes has an article about just that on dnn creative here is the link.

A general gist would be create a new page called site admin for you backup admin user to access certain items you can create new link pages to the page directly through either the tab id or through the url that it is re-written to.

John...

This essentially looks like it would do the trick, but unfortunately, I am not a subscriber to DNNCreative and thus cannot view the video.  Is anyone able to give me a rundown?

Also, the article specifically states "Note: This method does not work with the 'User Accounts' menu item, do not attempt to give a user access to the 'User Accounts' page."  Giving a user access to the "User Accounts" control is something that I NEED to do in this case.  Does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks.

Hi Daniel,
I'll see if I can help with a run down but as far as the users control goes the is a separate user control which can allow that kind of usage. to any user... it is WorkControl User Manager. I'm sure that there are others that do siilar things but that would allow that kind of access for the backup user.

John...

I was able to dig up another post where you discussed a situation similar to mine and tried to follow the instructions that you provided.

However, when I login with the username of the "secondary admin" account I created and try to access an admin control page, I get the following message:

"Access Denied: You do not have access to view this tab within the portal."

Any help?
