Is there a version of this, or another, .Net BBS that just works? This is the 21st century and I shouldn't have to edit a bunch of text files to configure my software. If I released something from my shop that made people need to know how to read and edit XML files to configure I'd be laughed out of the state.

Ok, ok... maybe DNN devs have no idea how to design an installer. Granted.  How about this: can someone point me to config instructions that actually work? Is that so much to ask?

Using the same intention as your post: Read the Documentation, is that so much to ask?

Jokes aside, there are people that released installers for DNN, I can't give you the link off the top of my head, please search for the post. I'll post the URL when I find it.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?
