Is anyone having success pinging Technorati with the DNN Blog module. Am I missing some way to use trackback to do so or is there a need for this feature in the future?

Trackback isn't really the way to ping technorati.  It's more for linking between blogs.  Have a look at the Blog project page for a description of what a trackback is.

Technorati does provide a script that you can add in to all of your posts that will ping them whenever you save a new post.  You have to put up with the little logo though.

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply.

I think I've finally understood trackback after linking to some other blogs. Pretty neat.

To use the Technorati tags, I (or whomever's posting a blog) must physically paste that in to each post. Would be nice if that could be a module setting. It could substantially help blog circulation numbers.

I think technorati only lets you ping your blog a few times a day.  So for someone that posts a lot per day that might not be a good thing.  I kind of like the idea of a menu entry where you could put a list of places like pinggoat and technorati and then click a button to ping all of them once after you are done posting for the day.

That would be a good feature. I would perfer soemtihng like is in Community Server where once you post it automatically pings the servcies you set up and then of course have an interface where you can see the services who have picked up your posts. These features are a great way to improve the visibility of your blog and will help improve your positions in the search engines.
